The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters that the US and president Joe Biden should mind their own business and stop interfering in Israeli internal affairs and politics.

Netanyahu responded to Biden’s criticism of the Israeli goverment and how it is handling proposed judicial reforms in the country, and adding that Israel will not submit to “pressure from abroad, including from the best of friends.”

“My administration is committed to strengthening democracy by restoring the proper balance between the three branches of government, which we are striving to achieve via a broad consensus,” said Netanyahu and added: “Israel is a sovereign country which makes its decisions by the will of its people and not based on pressures from abroad, including from the best of friends.”

Biden commented the situation in Israel earlier this week by saying that he hopes Netanyahu changes his mind regarding the planned judicial reforms in the country, that has caused the biggest demonstrations in the country has ever seen.

Biden said that the Israeli government “cannot continue down this road.”

“Like many strong supporters of Israel, I’m very concerned, and I’m concerned that they get this straight,” said Biden and continued:

“Hopefully the prime minister will act in a way that he can try to work out some genuine compromise. But that remains to be seen.”
